Ādi Shakti – The Primordial Power of Creation

As described in the Purāṇas and the Devī Māhātmyam, Ādi Shakti (Parāshakti, Mahāmāyā) is regarded as the ultimate source of the entire universe. As the verse “Yā Devī Sarvabhūteṣu Shaktirūpeṇa Saṃsthitā” proclaims, She pervades every form, every living being, and the entire material cosmos. The three cosmic functions—creation, preservation, and dissolution—are all sustained through the divine energy of the Goddess, as revealed in the Devī Māhātmyam. According to the Vedas, Ādi Shakti is the Mahāmāyā who governs both avidyā (ignorance) and vidyā (knowledge). It is She who empowers Brahmā to create, Viṣṇu to preserve, and Śiva to dissolve, thereby keeping the eternal cosmic cycle in motion. Hence, the worship of the Divine Mother is not merely a ritual for attaining worldly blessings, but rather a sacred communion with the Supreme Power that upholds the universe, as envisioned in Sanātana Dharma. To meditate upon and worship Ādi Shakti is to awaken inner strength and attain spiritual peace. Scriptures declare that devotion to Her bestows all auspiciousness, prosperity, and ultimately, liberation (mokṣa), for She is the embodiment of boundless compassion and supreme energy.
